Her Story
About Joselyn
I've been in credit union management for 10 years, and I've always been drawn to this industry because credit unions focus on community involvement and giving back rather than just hitting sales marks. For me, it's truly about helping people and helping the community, and I try to lead with my heart. I currently serve as Assistant Branch Manager at Vibe Credit Union in Southfield, Michigan, where I lead the busiest branch in our entire 16-branch network. We have the largest membership base and the largest staff, so my days are never the same but always busy. My typical day includes gathering the team for morning huddles, checking in on how everyone is feeling, setting expectations and priorities, coaching through one-on-ones, answering questions, and meeting with members in the lobby. I'm really passionate about providing psychological safety for my team and creating a positive, fun, uplifting place where they can thrive and be their best. When your team feels safe and valued, they're more apt to want to show up for the members and reach goals. My greatest career achievement is being able to lead this branch well and having my team buy in and appreciate my leadership.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I try to lead with my heart, and for me, it's truly about helping people and helping the community. I believe in creating psychological safety where my team feels valued, seen, understood, heard, and celebrated. I think leadership is about serving the team and the community you're surrounded by. It's about empathy, being bubbly and upbeat, finding the silver lining in every single cloud, being agile and flexible and understanding and compassionate. I'm driven by people, motivated by people, and inspired by people. Community is the gift that keeps on giving, and you can never give too much to those around you.
