Josie Lanza is a published author and creative performer whose biggest achievement to date has been the release of her first book, For Once, This Is For Me. Having written her whole life, Josie made a pivotal shift to poetry about three to four years ago, and her work reflects her passion for storytelling, self-expression, and creativity. This milestone highlights her dedication to the arts and her drive to share her voice in meaningful and impactful ways.
Alongside her accomplishments as a writer, Josie works as a Server Trainer at Topgolf, where she has gained valuable leadership and communication skills. A true creative and performer, she has over a decade of dance training across multiple styles, including her participation in her high school’s dance conservatory. She has also earned recognition in public speaking through Business Professionals of America and founded a fundraiser to support lower-income students in debate competitions. With her diverse experiences, education, and love for the arts, Josie is excited to continue building her career in the performing arts and creative industries, using every opportunity to grow, connect, and inspire.

What do you attribute your success to?
Some of my success stems from growth, self reflection and learning how to understand my emotions and reconsidering who I am and who I want to be. I found lot of success once I stopped comparing my work to other poets. The honest, emotional truth wasn't always easy to share, but that's a huge part of why I made this book for myself. I wanted to express my vulnerability as something beautiful rather something to hide. My message is intended to help women find strength in being emotional and open, reminding them that feeling deeply is not a weakness.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to take that first step with confidence if you truly want to pursue it. I know it can feel intimidating at first, and vulnerability may make you hesitate, but don’t let that hold you back. Every opportunity begins with the courage to start, even if you don’t have all the answers yet. Embrace the uncertainty, trust in your abilities, and allow yourself to learn and grow along the way. Taking action is what opens doors, builds resilience, and ultimately shapes your path forward.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is building my audience and figuring out which marketing tactics to use to share my book with the world. Not everyone likes reading or enjoys poetry, so being able to work with influential women and connect with those who do want to share me art is a huge opportunity. Another challenge would be the imposter syndrome. It makes self promotion difficult, especially because of how young I am. Yet I remind myself that passion and authenticity matter more than age, and that every story deserves to be told.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life come from the influence of my sisters. Being the youngest of five girls, I grew up admiring them and wanting to follow in their footsteps. They taught me the importance of strength, resilience, and compassion, and I’ve carried those lessons into everything I do. Their example reminds me to lead with integrity, support others, and always strive to be the best version of myself, both professionally and personally.
