Her Story

About Jothsna Praveena

My professional journey has been one of transformation and growth across multiple industries. I have worked in academia, the power industry for a government enterprise, and at Amazon in e-commerce, where I developed deep expertise in machine learning. This diverse background eventually led me to transition into an AI engineer role. Currently, as a Senior Data Scientist for the past 10 months, my work focuses on building an agentic platform as a service where users can access different agents for various use cases. My day-to-day responsibilities include ensuring successful deployment to LangSmith Studio, maintaining scalable applications as needed, and integrating MCP servers into agentic workflows. I am responsible for maintaining a scalable enterprise-level agentic platform as a service. My proudest achievement has been making the leap from a remote government job in the energy domain to landing a prestigious senior role at a consulting company in the U.S. Beyond my corporate work, I am deeply involved in the AI community, serving as membership chair for the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) Dallas chapter, and previously held the role of Vice Chair for Women in Engineers with IEEE. Every week, I organize community events where I bring speakers and audiences together to discuss emerging techniques in AI.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say that be curious, be passionate about what you are learning, and be consistent. Don't expect no results in a short time. Yeah, that's what I want to say.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The bigger opportunities and challenges both come from AI itself. AI is replacing a lot of people - what used to be done by 5 people can now be done by 2. That's a bigger challenge. But the bigger area of scope is also that if you learn AI, there will be a lot of doors that will be open for you.
