Her Story

About Joy

Joy Lynskey is a visionary leader in commercial interior design, renowned for creating spaces that blend bold creativity with meaningful impact. With over two decades of experience designing for brands such as Sperry, EA Sports, Macy’s, Sandals, and Scotiabank, she brings an entrepreneurial mindset and strategic approach to every project. After earning her Bachelor of Design in Interior Design from the University of Florida, Joy developed her expertise at the intersection of retail and hospitality before founding Jewel Toned Interiors (JTI) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Today, JTI is a nationally recognized firm delivering high-performance, wellness-forward interiors for Fortune 500 companies, mission-driven organizations, and growing businesses across the country.

As Founder and CEO of JTI, Joy leads with a “Boots on the Ground” philosophy, remaining actively involved in construction administration and project execution to ensure designs are both functional and unforgettable. She has built a high-performing, close-knit team—affectionately called the JTI Gems—with a culture rooted in excellence, trust, and collaboration. One-third of the firm’s projects serve underserved communities, reflecting Joy’s commitment to equity and design for good. Under her leadership, JTI has earned numerous accolades, including the IIDA Star of the Year and a JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion) Ambassador Award, and maintains a 90% client repeat rate.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Joy is dedicated to mentorship, community engagement, and giving back. She actively participates in organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the Construction Executives Association—where she was the first female president—and Junior Achievement’s Uncorked event, championing opportunities for young designers and entrepreneurs. Outside the studio, Joy finds inspiration and joy in family life with her husband Andy and their four children, as well as on the water, through fitness, and in her voracious reading habit. Known for her empathy, decisiveness, and big-picture thinking, Joy continues to expand JTI’s national footprint while inspiring the next generation of creative leaders.

Ten minutes with Joy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a continuous commitment to growth—striving to be better today than I was yesterday, and better tomorrow than I am today.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The best advice I can give to young women entering this industry is to stay humble, get out of your own way, and remain coachable. Even if you consider yourself highly self-aware, take the time to dive even deeper into understanding yourself and how you can grow.
