About Joy
Joy Schoffler founded her strategic communications firm in 2021 after a career spanning investment and defense sectors. She began in the investment industry, helped scale a fund to a quarter billion in assets under management, and built and sold a consulting agency in 2017 that served investment firms, funds, family offices, and fintech companies. After joining a private equity firm with a defense industry focus in 2020 as a former Army Reserve officer, she launched her current firm to serve military clients and strengthen the defense industrial base. Schoffler holds an economics degree with a minor in military science from Pacific Lutheran University, graduated in 2005, and maintains memberships in the Army Reserve Officers Association, the Association of the United States Army, and the National Security Innovation Council. She has served on the board of Athletes for Change and volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters while providing sponsorships to defense innovation ecosystem nonprofits.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
If you do what you love and where you feel like you can make the biggest impact, you'll never feel like you're working a day in your life. Money's a byproduct of being good at what you do and helping people. Your passion can be financially lucrative.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is juggling home and work responsibilities, especially with kids, while making sure loved ones feel prioritized and valued.
