Her Interview
Ten minutes with Joy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the mentors, experiences, and continuous learning that have shaped my journey. I have been inspired by mentors such as Miss Joy from California and Nikolai, an Indian teacher specializing in meditation and Ayurvedic healing. I also value my diverse education and certifications in CPR, home care, meditation, pranayama, Nada Yoga, health coaching, and nutrition, along with my experiences traveling and learning around the world. These opportunities, combined with my community involvement and commitment to ongoing professional development, have helped me grow personally and professionally.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to find something they genuinely love and that sparks their curiosity. Choose something that inspires you to keep learning, exploring, creating, and growing, whether it is herbology, astrology, wellness, or another passion. When you truly love what you do, your work becomes a meaningful and fulfilling journey rather than simply a job.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest opportunities in my field come from building innovative businesses that make natural and alternative healing more accessible. Through my entrepreneurial journey, from aromatherapy to founding Pirate Industries, I have developed natural products such as teas and tinctures while creating a collaborative business culture where everyone has a unique role. I see continued potential in combining wellness, community, creativity, and shared experiences to help people explore alternative approaches to healing.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are creativity, authenticity, and continuous self-expression. Writing and poetry have allowed me to share meaningful perspectives and connect with others, as reflected in my three published poetry books and contributions to short-story anthologies. I value staying curious, expressing myself honestly, and continuing to create work that has meaning and impact.
