Her Interview

Ten minutes with Joyce

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being ambitious, internally driven, and motivated by a desire to give back. I have been given a lot, and I want to use my experiences and abilities to add value and make a meaningful contribution to the communities and people around me.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I believe in living with humility and kindness while remaining aware of my own double standards. I also believe that powerful personal stories can change hearts and minds, which has strongly influenced the way I approach my work in cannabis advocacy, education, and storytelling.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage women entering the cannabis industry to find and work with other women. By building strong relationships and collaborating with one another, we can help shape the industry in the image of the plant, she is a caregiver, and create an environment that is positive, supportive, and inclusive.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the challenges I am focused on is the Massachusetts ballot initiative concerning the potential recriminalization of adult-use cannabis. I see an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with people in the community, particularly seniors, to provide education and help them better understand cannabis and its role in society.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, honesty, trust, kindness, generosity, and curiosity are important values in both my professional and personal life. If I say I am going to do something, I believe in following through. I also believe generosity is mutually rewarding and that giving to others can create meaningful value for everyone involved.
