Joyce Jackson is the owner of Jay Jackson Company, a business she established in 2020 following a rebranding of her services. With more than 28 years of experience in the real estate title industry, she also holds a real estate license in Maryland and title licenses in Maryland, DC, and Virginia. Her company offers consulting for title companies, education and training for industry professionals, temporary processing solutions, and closing services for commercial, investment, and residential transactions. Jackson attributes her success to strong connections with industry professionals and a mentor who provided opportunities and training, which led her to leave government work. She emphasizes investing in personal growth, counting the costs when entering the field, and grounding her work in spiritual growth along with professional development and creative problem-solving.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Great connections with industry professionals and a great mentor who gave me opportunities and trained me. If it wasn't for them I might still be in government work. The best decision was making the change to impact people profoundly.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Invest in yourself and your personal growth. You can own a business but if you're not growing with your business then what are you doing? You have to grow personally to hold your business and be confident.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Count the costs. This industry does not work for everyone. It may require long hours, patience with clients, and may not be as lucrative initially, but worth it long-term. Make sure it aligns with your goals.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Spiritual growth and walk with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is my foundation that keeps me sane and sustains my success. Also professional growth, learning business, connecting with like-minded people, being creative and looking outside the box.
