I have 33 years experience helping others, especially people with disabilities and the elderly. I worked at Conway Human Development Center for 12 years and with juveniles for 4 years before moving to Goodwill where I ran a program for 4 years and helped 15 clients get hired at places like Pride, Walmart and Academy Sports. Now I do consulting, case management, notary work and assessments for home health care.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with juanita
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being honest and faithful to my word, walking in my truth, and knowing my words.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't give up, don't look back. Keep pressing forward. When you take two steps, God already takes 5 for you. He just wants you to stay on the path.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be true to yourself. Accept advice from others but always be true to self and be honest. And do what's in your heart. Because the greatest leader had to be a follower but that was through being true to self and not trying to be like the other person.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge for me would be finding part-time work in the field, but I would get with a nonprofit and volunteer my time with it.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My personal life is work. I'm constantly counseling with my nieces. I keep myself grounded through prayer and surrounded by people that keep me motivated and build me up.
