Her Interview
Ten minutes with Judi
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the love I have for my child and the encouragement that has motivated me to keep moving forward. A particularly meaningful phone call from my son, expressing how proud he was of my business accomplishments, gave me the confidence to continue pursuing my photography business despite the doubts I had about myself.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received was shortly after I completed my cancer journey; I was told to turn my hobby into a business. I have a close bond with my family and they encouraged me to recognize the potential in my photography and take the step from pursuing it as a hobby to building it into a business.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women to believe in themselves and persevere through challenges. No one else can take the same path for you or achieve your goals on your behalf, so it is important to stay committed, continue moving forward, and remain focused on your own journey.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Outside of beating breast cancer, one of the biggest challenges I have experienced has been overcoming self-doubt while building my photography business. I learned that fear should not determine what I am capable of achieving. Moving beyond those doubts created an opportunity for me to recognize my abilities, continue developing my photography business, and pursue goals that I might otherwise have hesitated to pursue.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Perseverance, self-belief, and determination are especially important to me. I believe in focusing on each step toward my goals while remaining committed to my family and balancing the responsibilities of my professional career, photography business, and personal life.
