About Judith
Judith Heitzman is an accomplished social work educator, psychotherapist, and consultant with experience spanning higher education and private practice. She started in the field in 1989 after earning an undergrad in Educational Psychology and Counseling, a degree in social work, and a doctorate. She worked in community mental health for about seven years before starting her private practice. In the same year, she began teaching at the University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work in 1997, where she continues to mentor graduate students. She operated her private practice until 2024, providing psychotherapy, consultation, and clinical supervision. She now supervises master's students in their field practicums through an online program across multiple states. Her career reflects a deep commitment to clinical excellence, education, and the professional development of social workers, guided by values including service, social justice, dignity of every human being, competence, integrity, and a preferential option for the poor.
