What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to finding the right company—Danfoss—and seizing the internal opportunities available there. Perseverance, combined with completing my education later in life with employer support, allowed me to grow from factory work to a regional sales manager role. Learning from the ground up gave me valuable lessons I continue to apply today.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I actually mentor young women in our company, because today, the company is really still a man's world, and that was a big obstacle for me along the way. For the young ladies, the young women that are coming into the industrial role that's more geared to a man's role, what I do is help inspire them to stay strong and confident in what they do. Especially being young, sometimes that can be a little challenging, so I just help them to embrace who they are and not lose sight of that. I also try to empower them to stay true to who they are and help them navigate some of the challenges that they're seeing, being still young and female in a man's world today. I just want them to know that there are people, like me, who are there to support them in their roles to be successful and to help them navigate some of the challenges that they find.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The field remains male-dominated in certain areas, which can be challenging. Constant business changes require adaptability, and moving between market segments—like my recent transition from water/wastewater to HVAC—presents both challenges and opportunities. Travel and time demands are also significant aspects of the role.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My values are centered on how I take care of our customers. I want to make sure that everything they do meets their needs and helps them, so my job is really to empower them to sell our product and our services in the field that they're suited for. For me, the values I have include integrity - I want to be competent in what I do so that I can translate that into how I take care of our customers. I also value empowering women, especially through my mentoring work with young women in our company who are navigating a male-dominated industry.
