Her Story

About Judith

Judy Fisher writes for people who have a hard time talking about what's on their minds. Every book she writes introduces the reader into serious concepts, but in a lighter, fictional way.

Her writing began as an empty nester blog to fill the time that was previously spent tending to her husband and two children. As she wrote and gained followers, she decided to try pure fiction. Judy felt that a lot of women, especially of her generation, struggled with many fears, questions and issues growing up in the 1960s and 1970s, and many still carry those fears coupled with the shame and embarrassment that affect the way they live their lives, even today.

With two grown children. She now resides in Central Florida with her her four-legged child named Mitzi and her husband. She enjoys reading, writing, live theater and playing with her grandchildren, Amelia and Matthew.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Judith

01What do you attribute your success to?

Perseverance and compassion. I lead with my heart and while that sometimes causes me to be a little naive, it also makes me a lot of friends along the way.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

My father taught me to bend but never break. And he also taught me to always use what you know and have, and never give up.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Follow the lead of Maya Angelou. Everyone has a story inside them and it only hurts while it's inside them. Tell your story.

After all, a burden shared is half.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Because of the explosive growth of the self-publishing industry, the market is flooded with books. Some deserve to be there and some are just there. The competition for visibility is stiff. There are also an awful lot of scams out there, including republishing scams, book club scams, traditional publishing and movie scams. It's a minefield.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Tikkun Olam, a Jewish tenet, that means repair the world, or leave it better than as you found it. God, family , charity and good deeds. (Hashem, meshpuchah, Tzedakah, Mitzvot).
