Juli Jing is a Senior Research Scientist at Meiogenix, specializing in meiotic recombination and plant genetics. She holds a PhD in Plant Sciences from China Agricultural University, where she identified and characterized key maize meiotic genes, uncovering their roles in DNA repair, crossover formation, and chromosome structure regulation. With over a decade of research experience across top institutions in China, Germany, and the United States, Juli has published 11 articles in leading journals, including Nature Communications, New Phytologist, and Current Biology.

During her postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research and Cornell University, Juli investigated the mechanisms of the synaptonemal complex and homologous recombination in Arabidopsis meiosis. She discovered that combining specific meiotic mutants could significantly increase crossover rates, providing crucial insights for plant breeding. Her work also involved applying CRISPR/Cas9 technology to study gene function and generating transgenic lines to identify new proteins involved in meiotic crossover regulation, resulting in patents and high-impact publications.

Juli is recognized for her creativity, leadership, and collaborative approach in research. She has trained students and colleagues, presented her work at international conferences, and reviewed manuscripts for scientific journals. Awarded the Humboldt Research Fellowship and other honors, Juli continues to advance knowledge in plant genetics while contributing to innovations in crop improvement and mentoring the next generation of scientists.
