Her Story

About Juli

I transitioned to ghostwriting in 2015 after spending 30 years as an artist. The shift came during a profound identity crisis when I received what I believe was divine guidance directing me toward writing. I pursued mentorship as the most expedient path forward, studying through Long Ridge Writers Correspondence Group and working with several female mentors in writers' dens. I also ran my own writer's group. My ghostwriting mentor proved invaluable, especially when my husband tragically passed away during that training period and ghostwriting became my essential income stream. I specialize in ghostwriting books, particularly memoirs and business books, working closely with clients through an interview process to flesh out their stories. I transcribe our conversations, write chapters for approval, and guide clients through revisions. The process typically takes 6 to 10 months. I love digging into projects with clients, getting to know them deeply, and bringing the best literary property to the marketplace. I find the memoir process especially rewarding because it's so cathartic for clients. I've finished every book I've started with a client, and I take pride in helping busy people who need a book but don't have time to learn the craft themselves.

01What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

AI wants to take over the world, which is a huge concern for writers. However, more people are becoming educated about writing, which is great. Ghostwriters are in a different category compared to regular writers or journalists. We're educated to a specific need, whereas journalists are educated to broadcast information through publishing media, and they're very different in their approach to writing. It's astonishing that about 80% or more people want to write a book, but how many are willing to go and learn how to write a book? Some people just need to have a book, and certain businesses really require having a book. Who wants to spend 2, 3, or 10 years trying to figure out how to write a book? Ghostwriting really fills that bill very nicely. I think there's always going to be room for ghostwriters out there because there's always going to be people that need this done a certain way and don't have time to do it. That's my specialty, writing books for busy people that don't have time for this.
