About Julia

Julia Bissinger is a Cross-Functional Leader in Marketing Operations with more than two decades of experience spanning life sciences, marketing operations, technology, and scuba diving instruction. Her career began with a strong foundation in science, earning an associate’s degree in Biological Science from Bucks County Community College and spending seven years in the forensics department at National Medical Services. During this time, she contributed to drug testing methodologies and developed a reputation for her exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, earning the nickname “Chain of Custody Queen.” Her passion for science, problem-solving, and continuous learning has remained a consistent theme throughout her professional journey.

After relocating to California, Julia expanded her technical expertise by studying web development and database programming at DPT Business School before earning her bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Environmental Studies from California State University, East Bay. She went on to build an accomplished career in life sciences organizations, including Alpha Innotech, ProteinSimple, Singulex, and 10x Genomics, where she held roles in inside sales, sales support, Salesforce administration, and marketing operations. Throughout these positions, she led CRM implementations, supported complex company acquisitions and transitions, optimized marketing automation systems, improved data processes, and developed scalable solutions that strengthened collaboration between sales and marketing teams.

Today, Julia is the founder of Octopi Solutions, LLC, where she provides marketing and sales operations consulting services to life sciences organizations, helping companies improve processes, technology adoption, reporting, and overall business performance. Alongside her consulting work, she continues to pursue her passion for scuba diving as a PADI IDC Staff Instructor and Master Scuba Diver Trainer with Central Oregon Diving, where she teaches and guides divers at various skill levels. A dedicated advocate for environmental conservation, Julia participates in beach and river cleanups and Project AWARE initiatives. She is also an active member of PADI, Marketing Operations communities, and Marketo user groups. Outside of her professional endeavors, Julia enjoys hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding, paddleboarding, cooking, and exploring the natural world through adventure and education.

The best career advice I have ever received is the importance of learning from others, sharing my experiences, and using storytelling to inspire and connect with future generations. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to have several outstanding mentors, including Jim Capwell, Lewis Chapman, and Jeff Whitmore, who have guided and encouraged me along the way. Their mentorship taught me the value of recognizing achievements, embracing opportunities, and helping others see the possibilities within their own careers. I also believe in the importance of maintaining balance by making time for personal interests and passions, including hiking, cooking, mountain biking, snow sports, and scuba diving. These experiences continue to inspire my creativity, resilience, and appreciation for lifelong learning.
