Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my heavy supportive network from my family, my spouse, and now the academic network I have behind me from Georgia State University. Those have really been true driving forces for my success today. My grandmother has always been a caring figure in my life, and me being a big sister, nursing seemed to be the natural fit for me, just based on my background and what I was naturally doing as a child.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is simple but powerful: Do it while afraid. Don’t allow fear to hold you back.

Early in my career, I realized that fear rarely disappears before a big opportunity presents itself. Whether stepping into leadership, pursuing executive education, or embracing innovation in digital health and AI, there were always moments of uncertainty. I learned that courage is not the absence of fear—it is the decision to move forward despite it. Growth has consistently required me to act before I felt completely ready.

This advice has shaped how I lead and how I mentor others. I encourage my teams to stretch beyond comfort zones, take calculated risks, and trust their preparation and resilience. Fear often signals expansion, not danger. By choosing action over hesitation, I have been able to evolve as a clinician, strategist, and executive—and I continue to carry that mindset into every new challenge.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my professional and personal life are integrity, growth, compassion, and community. In my work, I believe integrity means leading with transparency, making data-driven decisions, and holding myself accountable to the outcomes I help shape. Growth is equally essential—I am committed to continuous learning, whether through executive education, emerging technologies like AI, or thoughtful reflection on leadership. Compassion grounds everything I do. My background in nursing instilled in me a deep respect for the human side of systems, and I strive to ensure that innovation and operational excellence never come at the expense of empathy.

Community is a value that carries into every space I occupy. I am an active participant in a book club through Next On Board, Women on Boards, where we engage in meaningful dialogue around leadership, governance, and personal development. I value spaces that challenge my thinking, expand my perspective, and foster thoughtful exchange among driven, purpose-centered women. Being part of professional and personal communities that encourage accountability and shared growth keeps me aligned and energized.

On a more personal note, creativity and joy are important parts of who I am. I am a proud dog mom and genuinely enjoy grooming my dog—not just the basics, but styling him with bow ties and fun touches that reflect his personality. I also love painting, which gives me space to think, reflect, and express myself beyond the structured world of healthcare operations. These creative outlets help me stay balanced and remind me that leadership is not only about performance, but about presence and authenticity as well.
