Her Story

About Julia

I've been at Cardinal Health for the full 5 years that I've been in my field. I originally started in product marketing on the global side of things, so I got to work internationally with lots of our product marketing teams on our fluid management portfolio. Then I got to progress over to a customer marketing team where I worked on more thought leadership work for Cardinal Health's medical distribution more broadly. After that, I transitioned over to a customer experience and insights team where I worked on lots of voice of customer research and customer-facing trainings for the organization to keep things more customer-centric. Before moving into my current role now on OptiFreight Logistics, which is the supply chain logistics business at Cardinal Health, I'm on the brand marketing and communications team, and I really focus on all our internal communications, executive messaging, PR, and incorporating customer insights into our communications externally as well. My main area of expertise is definitely internal communications. That's where I've spent my time, almost a year and six months in role currently, and I've had the ability to tap on that a little bit in previous roles prior to this one. I actually started at Cardinal Health as an intern before joining through a leadership development program that gave me my kickstart into the field.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to having a really robust set of mentors throughout my career, but also to my parents. My dad is a super hard worker and has been such a professional his whole life, and just being able to look up to him growing up, I knew I wanted to aspire to be someone who was approaching her career with a go-getter attitude and always wanting to be successful while also helping a cause I believe in. Cardinal Health, certainly being healthcare-centric, is always very purposeful, and knowing that everything we do is touching a person, probably in need at the other end.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is to never hesitate to reach out to someone who you're interested in networking with. I'm really lucky that Cardinal Health is a really open-door company, but even prior to me being at Cardinal Health, just in college, people at Isenberg were so encouraging and would really advise people to not hesitate to reach out to someone on LinkedIn if you're interested in their experience and want to learn from them, because most people are very receptive to that and would love to chat. That's definitely really helped me in my career as I've continued to broaden my network.
