Her Story

About Julia

I manage a couple of different accounts ranging from manufacturing to non-profit organizations, with events from as low as 10 attendees on peak to 500 on peak. I serve as a resource to my clients to not only source and procure hotels for them worldwide, but also to educate them on cities - what's available, what cities are walkable, who has the closest airport. I help them navigate through that entire process until we decide on the location that they want to pursue. One of my proudest moments has been attending FAMs with my clients to destinations I'm not familiar with. I'm here on the West Coast and very familiar with California, but when asked to source a destination in the Midwest, that's just not my wheelhouse. Being able to source the destinations, attend FAMs, and then take my clients with me to experience the destination creates aha moments for both of us. I just got back from Milwaukee attending Meetings Today Live, and last year we went to Cleveland with my clients, and we were like, oh my god, it's a great city. Those moments of discovery with my clients are what I'm most passionate about.

Ten minutes with Julia

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

For me, probably one of the biggest eye-opening things is the power of LinkedIn. We think it's just another tool, but there is nothing out there like LinkedIn to start those connections early. Don't think, oh my god, you know, once I'm seasoned or an expert or I'm in a hotel field, I will start making those connections. No, it's making those connections with the people within your classroom that are following or pursuing this industry. That's where it starts, and to continue from that point on. That's really going to grow that network of people.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

This is something that I try to teach my kids every day. If you're gonna do something, do your best at it, or else don't waste your time doing it. Go find something that you truly love, pursue that. But whatever task, whatever effort that you are going to put in, 100% give it your all.
