About Julia
Julia Kallen serves as a Volleyball Coach with Mountain View Volleyball Club and a Corporate Events Worker with Good Roots Events, bringing together her passion for athletics, leadership, marketing, and event operations. She has four years of volleyball coaching experience, beginning during her collegiate career and continuing after earning her bachelor’s degree in Communication and Spanish from Fairfield University, where she competed as a Division I volleyball athlete. Her background as a student-athlete has shaped her ability to lead teams, develop talent, and create environments centered on growth, collaboration, and success.
At Mountain View Volleyball Club, Julia coaches both indoor and beach volleyball teams, focusing on athlete development, skill progression, confidence building, and fostering a positive and competitive team culture. She is passionate about mentoring athletes and helping them reach their full potential through strong communication, dedication, and effective coaching strategies. She previously served as a Graduate Assistant Beach Volleyball Coach at Santa Clara University while earning her master’s degree in Marketing, combining her athletic expertise with her interest in sports management and marketing.
In her role as a Corporate Events Worker with Good Roots Events, Julia supports the planning and execution of morale-building experiences for corporate clients, including Meta and Salesforce. She brings strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage event logistics in fast-paced environments. With a unique blend of coaching, marketing, and event operations experience, Julia is committed to creating meaningful connections, driving impactful results, and pursuing opportunities that combine sports, brand engagement, and community building. She attributes her success to staying focused, putting in the work, and embracing opportunities with dedication, while valuing trust, communication, genuine problem-solving, and faith in the bigger picture.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to staying focused, working diligently, and consistently putting in the effort required to achieve my goals. I have been fortunate to be presented with incredible opportunities, and I believe my ability to embrace them comes from following my passion, trusting my instincts, and remaining committed to doing meaningful work with purpose and dedication.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is that when one door closes, another opportunity will open. I have learned to trust the process, maintain faith in my abilities, and believe in the value of my own skills and capabilities. Staying resilient and open to new possibilities has helped me navigate challenges and continue growing throughout my career.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to approach every challenge with a problem-solving mindset and do the best you can to find effective solutions. Be open to seeking guidance, asking for help when needed, and embracing change as an opportunity for growth. Collaboration, adaptability, and a willingness to learn are essential qualities for building a successful and fulfilling career.

The biggest opportunities in my field right now come from embracing innovation, solving complex challenges, and finding new ways to create meaningful results. My goal is to continue identifying opportunities, applying a strong problem-solving mindset, and leveraging my skills and dedication to drive impactful outcomes. I remain committed to continuous growth, adaptability, and achieving excellence in every endeavor.

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are trust, communication, and a genuine commitment to solving problems effectively. I believe strong relationships are built through honesty, collaboration, and consistent effort. As someone who focuses on the bigger picture, I also value having faith in the overall vision and trusting the process while working toward meaningful goals.
