Her Story
About Julia
I am a trial attorney in Florida. I've always been drawn to this career - I grew up watching Law and Order SVU and always thought I would eventually work to help victims. My mother would always tell me that I would get paid to argue, and she was right. I decided to go out of state for law school to North Carolina Central Law School in the Raleigh-Durham triangle area because I wanted to experience something different and see a different cultural area. It was scary at first to move to a different state where I knew nobody and live alone, but in the end it was great and I met wonderful people. After law school, I came back to Florida to work as an attorney. I am the first person in my family to go to graduate school.

Ten minutes with Julia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I am the first of anyone in my family to go to graduate school. I think just wanting to make a life for myself is probably the biggest drive.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I decided to go out of state to go to a different law school than in Florida because I wanted to experience something different, and I was scared to do it at first, but in the end, it was great. I was able to see a different cultural area and I met great people. So probably the advice I would say is to go for it, and don't be scared to move away for school.
