About Julia
Julia Pagan serves as a Medical Assistant at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. She started in this role in September of last year and performs a range of duties including rooming patients, taking vitals, conducting point-of-care testing, administering vaccines, managing paperwork, scheduling appointments, and answering phone calls. Her educational background includes phlebotomy training completed in 2023 and a medical assistant certification earned from National Louis University in 2025. She recently passed her CCMA exam and maintains CPR certification through the American Heart Association. Julia is an active member of the NHA, the American Heart Association, and the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. She has been accepted to Chamberlain University for a pre-licensure BSN program, which she will begin in September. As a single mother of two boys, Julia attributes her professional drive to her determination to provide a better future for her children and to serve as a positive role model, emphasizing patient care, advocacy, and education in her work.

01What do you attribute your success to?
My determination to give my kids a better future than the one I grew up in. I'm a single mom with two boys, and I'm their role model. It's never too late to pursue your passion once you find something you're passionate about.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
It's never too late to go back and pursue your passion.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Just not to let anyone put a cap on what you're capable of, and to never stop pursuing it.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest opportunities are advancement. I've moved pretty quickly and had amazing opportunities come my way, and I'm hoping for more once I finish my RN program.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Patient care is among the highest. Patient advocacy and education is important to me, making sure patients have proper resources to advocate for themselves.
