About Julia

Julia Parks is the Assistant Store Manager and Events and Philanthropy Manager for the Kendra Scott store in Indianapolis, Indiana. She has held this dual role for approximately two years. Parks earned a communications degree from Huntington University in 2018. Prior to joining Kendra Scott, she worked at Kate Spade, where she organized the second off-site event in company history involving the Aeros Tour. She moved to Indiana during COVID to be with her husband and transitioned into retail roles that aligned with her values. Parks credits her success to great women in leadership, including her store manager Rhonda, and to women mentoring other women. She values the flexibility of her schedule that allows quality time with her family, as well as the company's focus on family and philanthropy through give-back events. In her daily work, she balances sales floor duties with planning events and philanthropy initiatives. Parks advises young women entering the industry to stay true to themselves and always do what is right, noting that balancing multiple responsibilities requires the ability to pivot and embrace the unexpected.

Ten minutes with Julia

01What do you attribute your success to?

I want to attribute my success to great women in leadership. My current store manager has been phenomenal in growing us, and I've worked with amazing marketing partners in our company that have really helped grow us, so I would just say women mentoring other women has really created success.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I guess so, the biggest advice is to never leave the heart of who you are, and always remember to do what's right. Because I think there's companies do exist that are good and will benefit the customer, and I think you should always just be true to yourself. And everything will fall into place.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think the biggest challenge is just balancing it all. Like you said, I wear so many different hats. So just being able to pivot, and just embrace the unexpected, too, because working on the floor you'll experience so many different things, so I think just being able to pivot.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In my personal life, definitely my family. I have a son, and him and my husband. I love that my schedule is so flexible here, so I'm able to get the most time with them. That is something that's really nice, and I love how Kendra Scott is really big on family.
