Her Story
About julia
I went to school to be a teacher and earned my bachelor's degree in 2010 with K-6 certification. I was working as an English teacher when I had my son - I've been a single mom from day one. My best friend worked at All Year Cooling and asked if I wanted to answer phones for the summer since I wasn't teaching. I started at $12 an hour, got a raise before summer ended, and realized I'd make way more than as a teacher, so I took a leap of faith and never went back to teaching. I literally worked my way up through every single department in the company over 15 years. I'm self-taught and learned as much as I could from my guys - we've grown up together and they're really proud of me. Now I'm the general manager with no one above me except the owners. About three years ago, the company asked if I'd be interested in getting my contractor's license and paid for me to go to school. I got my Class B HVAC contractor's license on January 7th, 2026, which allows me to qualify any company up to 25 tons. It's the highest certification you can have in my business, and only one other person at the company holds it. I was very proud of myself because it's a man's world and I'm not ignorant of that. Now I'm building my own business, Always, Air LLC, which will be women-owned and operated, serving Weston and Southwest Ranches where I grew up and live.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to defying the odds that were stacked against me. I was a single mom from day one - statistically, my situation meant I was supposed to struggle, but I've always been a worker and I was determined that we weren't going to be broke or struggling. There was no way we were going to be barefoot and pregnant or anything like that - it just wasn't happening. I pushed and pushed, and I want to influence other people who have the odds stacked against them to just go out and do it. I'm self-taught and learned everything as I went, and I couldn't have done it without my guys at the company who have been teaching me along the way. We've grown up together and they're really proud of me, and I tell them all the time I wouldn't have been able to do it without them.
