Julia Sheridan

Julia Sheridan serves as a chemist at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in Tallahassee, where she recently transitioned into the organics department after nearly three years in her field. She began her career in pharmaceuticals in California immediately after earning her bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of California, San Diego, working in labs with predominantly female teams and reporting to female supervisors. In her current role, she conducts analyses using liquid and gas chromatography in the PFAS and volatile organics labs to determine chemical concentrations in environmental samples such as water and soil. Sheridan was promoted to this position after one year in nutrients, with multiple departments seeking her expertise. Outside her primary role, she is preparing to coach a local youth rowing team starting September 1, drawing on her experience as a coxswain in high school and college. She is an avid reader and collector of first-edition history books.
