What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to taking risks and stepping outside my comfort zone. When I applied for my current management role, I didn’t meet all the listed qualifications, but I leveraged my food service experience, which proved valuable. Since then, advocating for myself, my team, and my patients has been key to my growth and achievements.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don’t be afraid to step into leadership roles early in your career. Advocate for yourself and build confidence in speaking up.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Entering the dietetics field comes with challenges, including rising education costs and stagnant pay. Entry-level opportunities are often limited to clinical or long-term care roles, while niche areas like marketing or food safety are competitive. Gaining experience and advocating for yourself opens doors to these specialized paths.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important values to me are maintaining a healthy work-life balance and prioritizing mental health. I focus on setting boundaries, knowing when to say no, and finding a balance between obligations and personal goals to stay grounded both professionally and personally.
