Her Story
About Julie
Julie Bravo co-founded Fabulous Charcuterie with her husband, a professional chef, in Chula Vista, California. The couple started the business to bring people together through food, leveraging his culinary expertise and her extensive background in customer service and management. Before launching the company, Julie spent many years in customer service, served as a restaurant manager overseeing front-of-house operations, and worked for over 15 years at a dental laboratory where she functioned as office manager, supervising staff and implementing new systems. She is a member of the National City Chamber of Commerce and the Columbia Chamber of Commerce. Julie attributes her entrepreneurial success to a pivotal realization about work-life balance, inspired by the idea that repeating the same actions while expecting different results is a form of insanity; this prompted her to leave a traditional 9-to-5 schedule that kept her from her children. She and her husband recently sponsored an event providing over 300 charcuterie samples to benefit high schools in the Eastlake community. Her core values include honesty about products, family balance, compassion, and kindness.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Julie
01What do you attribute your success to?
I heard a quote about insanity being doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. That changed my life because I was working a 9-to-5 and not seeing my kids. I realized something had to change. Living by what's important to you, what you want out of life, figuring out a way to go get that, doing it from the heart, and everything else will follow.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Just start today. Don't wait for tomorrow or next week or next year because there's never going to be a right time. As you start you'll go through difficulties and challenges but as you keep going forward you'll figure them out. If you don't start you don't know what you're doing right or wrong because you don't have that experience.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty about our products and what we're all about. Family and having balance. Being caring and compassionate, knowing that people are going through different things in life that we might not know about. Kindness always goes a very long way.
