Macedonia, OH 44056

Julie D’Aloiso is the president of SpiderCat Marketing, a seasoned digital strategist, media entrepreneur, and small business advocate based in Macedonia, Ohio. She is also the founder of NordoniaHills.News, producer of the Jabbering With Julie Show, and a content producer for NEOHIO.News. Julie’s career spans over four decades, beginning in 1984 as a temp for Centerior Energy / CEI at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant. Having grown up in a rural area of Ashtabula County, she had never worked with a computer before college, yet she graduated with two associate degrees—one in Business Management and one in Computer Technology—from Kent State University, Ashtabula Branch.

While working at Centerior Energy, Julie demonstrated early determination and technical skill by continuing her education at Lake Erie College to complete her four-year degree. This commitment allowed her to advance from a clerk position to a programmer analyst role, marking the start of her lifelong journey with technology. In 1990, Julie chose to focus on her family and spent ten years as a stay-at-home mom raising her four children.

Upon reentering the workforce, Julie pivoted to digital innovation, teaching herself website development in 1999 and social media marketing in 2008. In 2009, she founded SpiderCat Marketing to help businesses build effective websites and develop impactful social media strategies. Recognizing a gap in local representation online, she launched NordoniaHills.News in 2015, providing hyperlocal coverage for her community, and later acquired NEOHIO.News to expand her reach across Northeast Ohio.

Today, at 63, Julie remains in a constant state of evolution. Her latest focus is mastering AI technology, which she approaches with the same grit she had in the 80s. While the sheer volume of new tools can be frustrating, she navigates this frontier by constantly sharing techniques with others and seeking wisdom from trusted leaders like Tony Robbins. Her work focuses on bridging traditional business with digital tools, community engagement, and practical AI solutions.

Beyond her professional ventures, Julie is a published author of the science fiction novel ZZino’s Pathway, a creator of web applications, and an educator passionate about guiding businesses through emerging technologies. She has taught internet radio courses at Cuyahoga Community College and continues to mentor entrepreneurs in content development, podcasting, and digital marketing strategy. Recognized with awards such as the Distinguished Sales and Marketing Award® (DSMA®), Julie combines technical expertise, creativity, and a deep commitment to community building to empower businesses and individuals in the digital age. She also created NEO Name Craft, a web application that helps people starting a business find the resources they need.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to embracing change, committing to continuous learning, and having the courage to try new things and refine them along the way. By staying adaptable and open to innovation, I have been able to grow professionally, navigate new industries, and create meaningful impact in both my community and the businesses I serve.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received came from Laura Sparano, the former Executive Director of the Nordonia Hills Chamber of Commerce. She provided me with practical guidance on networking and managing the business side of my work, teaching me how to build meaningful professional relationships while effectively running and growing my business.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to stay persistent, even when progress feels slow, and never give up on your goals. Seek guidance from experienced professionals, remain open to learning and adapting, and consider duplicating proven systems—especially when it comes to hyperlocal news. I also offer mentorship and a replicable framework for those who want to start their own local news platforms, helping others build successful ventures while strengthening their communities.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is encouraging businesses to sponsor and financially support local news and print products, which are essential for sustaining community-focused reporting. At the same time, there is a tremendous opportunity in leveraging AI and emerging technologies to scale coverage—such as recording and sharing council meetings—and to develop new business models that serve underserved communities, expanding both reach and impact.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are community support and collaboration, helping businesses lift each other up, resilience in the face of challenges, and a commitment to lifelong learning. These principles guide how I engage with others, build networks, and create meaningful impact in the communities I serve.
