Julie Fisher
Julie Fisher is an Account Executive and Benefits Advisor at CGI Business Solutions in Manchester, New Hampshire, where she has spent nearly a decade supporting employers, HR teams, and individual employees with their employee benefits needs. With a career spanning more than 25 years in the insurance and employee benefits industry, she specializes in helping organizations design and manage benefits programs while ensuring employees have clear guidance when navigating coverage, claims, and healthcare challenges. Her role blends client relationship management, benefits consulting, and hands-on employee advocacy.
Julie began her career after transitioning out of a role in medical glove manufacturing during a period of downsizing. She accepted an entry-level position in insurance, quickly earned her license within months, and steadily advanced into managing her own book of business. Over the years, she has worked across multiple agencies, building deep expertise in benefits administration, client servicing, and group education. She ultimately brought a significant portion of her long-standing client relationships with her to CGI Business Solutions, reflecting her consistency and commitment to client trust and service.
Throughout her career, Julie has focused on being an extension of HR for her clients, particularly when employees face complex medical or claims issues. She is known for stepping in to advocate for individuals, simplify complicated benefit structures, and provide reassurance during difficult healthcare situations. Her professional philosophy centers on strong client relationships, superior service, and continuous learning, and she remains deeply committed to improving outcomes for both employers and the employees she serves.
What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to three key things: commitment to my clients, superior customer service, and strong client relationships. The book of business that I have with me at this agency that I've been at for 10 years - I brought the majority of it with me. And those clients have been with me for 15-plus years. I think that kind of speaks for itself about the commitment to the service that I provide. It's not just about policies or premiums for me. What really drives me is being able to help individual employees who are struggling with complex health issues, being their advocate when they need approvals or guidance and never feeling like they have someone in their corner. I love being that advocate. While I love helping my clients and decision-makers with data-driven decisions, it really comes back to the employee level - digging in and helping them navigate difficult situations. That's the most rewarding part of my job, and I think that passion and commitment is what has kept my clients with me all these years.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say learn every aspect of not only your side of the business, but your client's side of the business. Understand what their needs are, and be able to sometimes predict them when the client doesn't even know what they need. Just understanding the wholeness of what a client from beginning to end needs, not just the pieces that you do. I think that's a big piece, because being an extension - while I'm a benefit advisor, I'm also an extension to an HR department, which adds another layer. So just learning all the pieces. And networking - building your network is huge.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges and opportunities in my field currently involve helping members navigate complex claims and approvals, ensuring they understand and can effectively access their benefits. I also focus on educating both clients and employees about available benefits and processes, while serving as an extension of HR. In addition, I aim to anticipate client needs proactively so I can provide more responsive and effective support.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life include a strong commitment to clients, delivering superior customer service, and building lasting, trust-based client relationships. I prioritize advocacy for individuals, ensuring their needs are understood, represented, and addressed effectively. I also value continual learning as a way to stay adaptable and improve the quality of support I provide. In addition, autonomy is important to me, as it allows me to take ownership of my work, make thoughtful decisions, and contribute meaningfully to both client outcomes and organizational success.
