About Julie
Julie Westom owns and operates Trendy Turtle Boutique, a women's boutique based in St. Augustine, Florida. She launched the business a little over a year ago, initially running small pop-up shops at farmers markets and festivals before converting a trailer into a mobile boutique. A one-woman operation with occasional help from her husband, Julie handles all aspects of the business from backend operations to front-end sales. Prior to entrepreneurship, she built a successful career in sales, including jewelry and software, after studying dental hygiene and completing dental assisting training. She is active on social media, maintaining profiles for Trendy Turtle Boutique on Instagram and Facebook to connect with customers and grow her brand. Julie describes herself as a beach person whose boutique reflects a beachy vibe.

01What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
There's competition of course, but owning my own business for the first time has been a challenge from beginning to end. I've done sales my whole life but never owned a business. Nowadays everything is marketing and social media - if you're not present on all platforms people don't know you exist. I constantly have to have content and post at least once twice three times a week.
