Her Story

About Julie

I've been in matchmaking since 9th grade - I was always the one at school who didn't hang out with any particular group, but I was an athlete, liked concerts, music, and drama, and I started matchmaking when I was really young. Years later, one of the girls told me that a couple I matched in 9th grade got married and had 4 children. I've been with my current company for 15 years, an organization that's been in business for 35 years. I've held pretty much all the different roles in the industry except CEO and Chief Financial Officer, because I don't know anything about numbers and don't want to deal with too many spreadsheets. My CEO, RW, knew exactly what she was doing when she put me in the role I'm in as Vice President - she knew it before I did. I'm not your typical vice president - I'm a getter-done kind of girl, a workaholic who does everything full volume. This is my end stop. I don't see myself doing anything else because when you know that your purpose is to help people and it's aligned with your passion, you just continue what you're doing, helping individuals meet their someone. Whatever success is for them - whether it's marriage, a partnership, just a quality individual in front of them, or several quality individuals - in the next 5 years, I'm just continuing to help more people.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to taking care of myself first, because when we're not full, how can we give to others? Number one, my personal care is I work out - I do a sport called CrossFit. I live on the ocean and I make sure that I take time to enjoy the universe and the ocean and the sea, so I swim. I eat very well. I stop my day at 9pm Eastern Standard - all my clients know she's asleep, don't try to call her. When you're spiritual and mental health is in line with your physical, everything that you touch has some type of harmony to that. When I know that I'm uneasy or I need to rest, or I need to step away, I take time for me, and the organization that I work for understands that. It's very, very important for any busy professional - take care of you, because you can't take care of others or help others if you're not helping yourself. I'm a workaholic who does everything full volume - being a mother, having someone in my life, my career, working out, eating healthy, loving - I do everything in full volume. When you do it that way, you have to be really careful. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't do drugs. I feed my mind good stuff, I read good stuff, I work with fantastic individuals. It's really great when you know that your passion is aligned with your purpose. I love what I do. I've never had a bad day.
