Juliet Romeo is a filmmaker, disability advocate, and accessibility and inclusion thought leader whose career spans more than 30 years across journalism, documentary production, and creative media strategy. She is the founder of Media Jules Production, a company dedicated to producing socially impactful film and multimedia projects that center underrepresented voices, particularly within disability communities. A graduate of Emerson College, Juliet has built a multidisciplinary career that bridges storytelling, advocacy, and media innovation, with a focus on creating equitable pathways for disabled creators in the film industry.

As the founder of the Unstoppable Program for Disability Films and Filmmakers at the Slamdance Film Festival, Juliet has developed a pioneering platform that provides access, visibility, and professional opportunities for filmmakers with disabilities. Her work emphasizes structural inclusion—ensuring that accessibility is not an afterthought but an integrated part of production, programming, and festival design. Through her leadership, Unstoppable has helped expand industry participation for disabled creators, contributing to broader conversations about representation, sustainability, and systemic change in media.

Beyond her production and festival work, Juliet is an active public speaker, writer, and advocate whose efforts extend into disability rights and healthcare policy awareness, particularly around sickle cell disease. She has produced documentaries aired on PBS and has collaborated with organizations and industry leaders to advance accessibility standards in media spaces. Known for blending creativity with activism, Juliet continues to champion a future in which storytelling is fully inclusive—where disabled artists are not only represented on screen but are empowered as leaders shaping the industry itself.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to faith, perseverance, and my ability to build meaningful connections. I have consistently pursued purpose-driven work, trusting my intuition and divine timing to guide me toward opportunities that align with my mission.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to focus on serving others through my work. When my work is rooted in purpose and impact, opportunities and success tend to follow naturally.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering my industry is to lead with purpose and not be afraid to carve their own path. I encourage focusing on creating meaningful impact rather than chasing recognition, while also learning to value their work and advocate for fair compensation as their careers grow.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

A major challenge in my field is the lack of accessibility and inclusion in media and film production. At the same time, this presents a significant opportunity, as there is a large and often underserved audience—1 in 4 individuals live with a disability. Expanding inclusive storytelling and accessibility services represents both a social responsibility and a strong business opportunity.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Faith, service, inclusion, authenticity, and resilience are the values most important to me in both my work and personal life. I am deeply committed to creating spaces where underrepresented voices are seen and heard, particularly within the disability community.
