What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a lifelong passion for architecture that began in childhood through visits to historic homes with my mother, who instilled in me a deep appreciation for design and has remained a constant source of guidance and support throughout my career. That early inspiration led me to pursue a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University and later a Master of Architecture from the University of Houston, completed between 2011 and 2013. Becoming a licensed architect stands as my most meaningful professional achievement, reflecting years of dedication, rigorous education, and ongoing commitment to growth through continuing education. Today, my work is focused on K–12 education projects, including renovations for both high schools and elementary schools, where I am driven by the opportunity to create thoughtful, functional environments that positively shape learning experiences and communities.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received was to have confidence in my abilities and never underestimate the value of my voice, especially in a male-dominated industry. Early in my career, my first principal, Mary Lee Johnson, reinforced this by encouraging me to step outside my comfort zone and gain exposure to many aspects of the profession, which was instrumental in my personal and professional growth. That guidance shaped my belief that women bring essential perspectives to the field and that breaking stereotypes requires both competence and the willingness to speak up. I now carry that advice forward by encouraging young women entering similar fields to trust their expertise, advocate for themselves, and recognize the impact their contributions can make.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are loyalty, hard work, diligence, honesty, and always striving to do my best. I am deeply motivated by causes that support sick children, particularly those affected by cancer, and I believe in using my skills and platform to make a meaningful, positive impact. Professionally, I am committed to continuous learning, staying current with building codes and exterior materials to ensure my work reflects the highest standards of safety, innovation, and quality. Outside of work, I value time with my young children, embrace opportunities to travel when possible, and enjoy hiking, all of which help ground me, inspire balance, and reinforce the importance of purpose both in my career and in life.
