About Julissa
She is a dedicated mechanical engineering student and emerging leader at the Colorado School of Mines, currently serving as Co-President of SHPE - Colorado School of Mines, where she leads chapter operations, sets goals, coordinates the executive board, and represents the organization to students, faculty, and industry partners. She has also served as Vice President and Recruitment and Retention Chair, driving membership growth and fostering an inclusive community for Hispanic students in STEM. She gained hands-on engineering experience as a Public Works and Utilities Intern for the City of Westminster, where she worked on infrastructure projects, visited project sites, and studied wastewater treatment processes. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and is a Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate. She is recognized as a passionate, community-driven, and technically skilled leader who is deeply committed to advancing diversity in engineering and making a positive impact in her field.
