Her Story

About June

I've been in my field over 12 years. In college at FSU University, I opened a clothing store and took a grant writing class. During the oil spill, I wrote grants and business plans to help businesses in Florida. I then went full-time into consulting and nonprofit work, helping nonprofits with government contracts. I started my own nonprofit and continue to leverage contracts and grants today, also creating programs for extra income streams.

Ten minutes with June

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the women and people in the community I grew up with, full of love. As Hillary Clinton said, it takes a village to raise a child. No one parent can teach their child everything, but a full, rounded community can.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Cater to your tribe early, because no one has created that nonprofit that you see the community needs. By creating their vision, they're helping the person that they probably needed to help them. They're waiting to be hooked.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important thing for me is to always treat people like human beings, no matter what they're going through in life.
