Her Story

About Jyoti

I have been involved in the gemstone business since childhood, helping my father in his office with tasks like grading and color shading. After school, I joined a jewelry designing course and then worked closely with my dad in the family business. Following marriage, I supported the operations through travel until 2019 when I moved to the US to take full management of the company. Today I oversee sales, business development, inventory, production, and supplies for our global operations in natural color gemstones, recently expanding into jewelry. I lead a team of four while maintaining strong ethical principles passed down from my parents.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jyoti

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success comes from my parents who were courageous and supportive, especially my father who never said no to my ambitions and stood by me fearlessly. My mother equally motivated me, and my husband has always been there to help when I face challenges, allowing me to focus on my work and family.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

A big company owner from Shop LLC advised me that I relate well to people and am convincing in talking, suggesting I try selling on TV channels. This led me to recently do my own brand program on GSN Gem Shopping Network.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice is especially for women to follow your path and dreams, stay strong, and don't let others distract you with their opinions. Just go and do it and feel the freedom of it.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The supply side is very low for color stones, but the business is booming and skyrocketing because lab diamonds and diamonds have lost credibility. People are investing in natural color gemstones instead. The challenge is the fight with lab-created stones, but we focus only on natural gemstones as their beauty will be understood in the future.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My ethics and principles are very strong. I always try to work ethically, follow the good values my parents taught me, be honest, stay with my commitments, and focus on my work.
