Her Interview

Ten minutes with KaBria

01What do you attribute your success to?

I feel like I'm successful because I'm willing to put in the work for it. When my team sees me working with them, it's not like I'm better than any position. I'm willing to go in there and help them, I'm willing to clean drains. I'm not successful if my team is not successful. Them seeing me as a leader willing to get dirty, they work hard because they know that their boss is willing to do the things that is asked.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I had a leader whose work ethic inspired me to keep pushing. During trials when I was at work, going to school, being a parent, and commuting an hour, the outcome was just keep pushing forward. Teamwork is more important than individual because it's a domino effect.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would probably tell them to keep going, no matter how hard it is, keep going. There's always light at the end of the tunnel, even when it seems pitch black, and put your best foot forward.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The challenge would be consistency as far as the PPEs. You're dealing with different personalities in different ways. My challenge pretty much was really understanding what the actual problem is and how we can come to a solution instead of what my expectation was. Sometimes when people come to vent to you, it's not like they want you to fix it. Sometimes they want just to be heard.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The integrity of being honest, the integrity of being open. You have to lean on one another at some point to get through. The value we hold as far as holding each other accountable, and also being there for one another, even not even getting into personal business, but being there to support.
