Her Story
About Kacie
I have a bachelor's in journalism and a master's in English, specifically in Creative and Professional Writing. I started in journalism, then quickly moved into higher education fundraising, which is all about relationship management. I've been working in relationship management for 12 years total, and since 2021, I've been in tech. I work for Salesforce, specifically for one of their subsidiaries called MuleSoft, which is an integration platform as a service. My expertise is really in the integration space, and I'm also becoming more familiar with governance and observability in the agent space. Salesforce is huge in the agentic enterprise right now, and our group has built something called MuleSoft Agent Fabric, which provides visibility across agents and ensures you're governing them properly, whether you're building them in AgentForce through Salesforce or Bedrock through Amazon. A big expertise for me is also fundraising - I spent a lot of my career in higher ed fundraising and nonprofit work. I've been able to take those relationship management skills I built through that time and bring them into the tech space, which has been really incredible. I never thought I would be a techie, but I've been able to learn all these new skill sets and get certifications. My customer is my company, so I support Salesforce in using the MuleSoft product through what we call customer zero - we're the first customer testing our products and implementing them in the best way possible. I'm essentially a liaison between the MuleSoft product team and our internal Salesforce IT team, doing a lot of project management. I also work with marketing teams to craft the story of how we're using our own products, and I make sure our sellers and customer success managers are equipped with those stories to share with their customers. I started growing my family about a year and a half ago when I had my first daughter, and this job is perfect for being a parent because you're managing tons of different things and thinking about a million things at once.

Ten minutes with Kacie
01What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I will be forever learning because technology constantly changes, and that's really exciting to me. I will never be an expert in my field because technology, especially right now in this agentic world, means my job changes every three months. Working at Salesforce, I am at the forefront of those changes, and it's so cool to be a part of something so large. Agents are going to change the world, and I really believe in the way that Salesforce believes in agents - that it's agents working alongside humans to make them better at what they do, not take their jobs. It's fast-paced and if you're not willing to learn, you are going to get left behind. People really are fearful right now, and I don't want to downplay that fear. There are people getting laid off, and there are many CEOs saying it's because of AI. Jobs are being cut, no doubt, and that is scary and real, affecting people and their families. But I do want to share an optimistic message about this new world that we're going into. I really believe on the other side of it, it is going to be a positive change to our world. This is really laying the groundwork for change in our world, and as long as we support the companies who want to do good in this world as we go into this new agentic phase, I think agents will be really beneficial. We've had bots and robotic processing automation for a while doing menial tasks, and if we have agents doing that kind of work for us, think of all the work we can do - we can use our brains more. No one can replace empathy and human-to-human interaction and just being able to understand each other.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Right now, I love my job and what I do. I love that I can learn new skills all the time and use them in this current role versus having to chase something. I really appreciate that I can be at that point in my career where I feel comfortable with what I'm making, what I'm doing, and also have the autonomy to pick up my daughter from daycare early if I need to. I think right now how I see myself is contributing to the workforce in a really positive way and being a part of something really exciting, while also growing the next generation and being able to be there and support her so that she can be doing great things when she's my age. My career is really important to me, and being able to be recognized and share that with my community is huge. I want to share an optimistic message about this new world that we're going into. I am saying that as a person who still has my job - I get that I am incredibly privileged in this moment. I just hope overall, as a society, we can be excited about AI and be excited about what it can do for us.
