Her Story
About Kahina
I got into research when I was an undergraduate student as a biology major and took a physiology course. I got involved in research in a lab that studied avian physiology and fell in love with the field. I pursued my PhD in avian reproductive physiology and wanted to pursue academics where I felt I thrived. Today I study reproduction in females in avian species especially poultry like chickens and turkeys, looking at how their reproductive functions work in health and disease. I teach courses, train graduate and undergraduate students and postdocs, plan and coordinate experiments, interpret data, write and edit papers. In summer I focus on research, grant writing, and attend scientific conferences.
