Kaitlin Inman

Kaitlin Inman is a multifaceted creative professional and the founder of Kinman Narratives, where she provides comprehensive editorial and self-publishing services—from developmental editing and illustration to cover design and indie publishing support. With a lifelong passion for storytelling, she helps writers refine their voices and bring their visions to life across multiple genres and platforms.
Kaitlin's path to entrepreneurship was forged through profound loss and extraordinary resilience. After experiencing the devastating deaths of her mother and a beloved coworker in late 2021 and early 2022—both occurring in spaces where she worked and lived—she made the courageous decision to step away from her role as food service manager with Bossier Parish School Board. That same year, she had been honored with the Support Staff of the Year Award for her dedication and leadership. Rather than let grief define her, Kaitlin took time to heal, then returned to pursue her education and build something meaningful from the ashes of her loss.
In August 2021, she re-enrolled at Texas A&M University, where she is completing her Bachelor of Science in Leadership (December 2025). During this transformative period, she also launched Kinman Narratives (kinmannarratives.com) and authored The Wondrous Tales of Waddleton, a charming children's book series that reflects her love of imagination and wonder. Her business has flourished, serving numerous indie authors with editing, publishing, illustration, and design services that blend artistic vision with professional execution.
Beyond her creative work, Kaitlin and her husband have spent the past four years building a small-scale, long-term RV park from the ground up. Set to open in the coming months, this venture represents another chapter in the transformation: turning heartbreak into legacy and creating spaces where others can find peace and community.
Whether designing a book cover, crafting a narrative, mentoring writers, or building something tangible with her own hands, Kaitlin approaches every project with empathy, resilience, and an unwavering belief in the power of new beginnings.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success first to God, who has guided every step of this journey, and to my husband's unwavering support. Together with my lifelong passion for writing, editing, and publishing—a love born in childhood—these foundations have shaped both my personal transformation and professional growth.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My dad's words changed everything: "The time is going to pass anyway." He reminded me that whether I stayed stuck or took a leap, the days, months, and years would march on regardless. So why not fill that time with something meaningful? Something I could be proud of? His advice freed me from the trap of staying in a field I'd outgrown simply because it felt safe. Time doesn't wait for us to feel ready—it just passes. The question is what we choose to do with it.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't wait for permission to call yourself a writer, editor, or creative professional. If you're doing the work, you are the real thing. Invest in learning your craft, but also trust your instincts—your unique voice and perspective are your greatest assets, not something to apologize for. Also, remember that your worth isn't tied to how busy you are or how much you produce. Build a business and a life that honors your whole self—your creativity, your relationships, your faith, and your need for rest. Success without sustainability isn't success at all.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The indie publishing space is exploding, which creates both saturation and possibility. The challenge is standing out in an oversaturated market where anyone can publish anything. Quality control has become a real issue, and readers are overwhelmed with choices. But that's exactly why professional editorial services are more crucial than ever. Authors who invest in quality editing, design, and strategic publishing are the ones who succeed. The opportunity lies in educating writers that self-publishing doesn't mean doing it alone—it means building the right team to make your book competitive. Additionally, niche markets and genre-specific communities are thriving. Authors who understand their audience and build genuine connections are finding success outside traditional publishing models.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Faith, family, and purpose drive everything I do. My relationship with God anchors me, especially through seasons of loss and uncertainty. My husband's support makes my dreams achievable. And my sense of purpose—knowing that my work matters and serves others—gives me the motivation to keep building even when it's difficult. Integrity is nonnegotiable. I want to be someone people can trust, whether that's delivering quality work to clients, honoring my commitments, or treating people with respect and honesty. Your reputation is built one interaction at a time. Resilience has become a core part of who I am. I've learned that you can survive unimaginable loss and still build something beautiful. That grief and growth can coexist. That starting over isn't failure—it's courage. And creativity as healing. Writing, editing, and creating aren't just my career—they're how I process the world, how I find meaning, and how I help others tell the stories that need to be told.
