Her Story

About Kaitlin

I've been in recruiting for going on 12 years now, and I absolutely love what I do. I started as a contractor with Facebook back in 2014, brought on as a university coordinator with no experience in recruiting - I actually came from insurance. But I was able to parallel what I did into recruiting, and I quickly grew to love the recruiting aspect. I would help out wherever I could, and was able to transfer over to a recruiter role a year and a half later. I've been in university recruiting ever since, primarily in software engineering recruiting for the majority of my time, though I was also able to recruit for data science as well as product, which includes UX research and design, which was a lot of fun. I was at Facebook until 2023, and then moved over to Lennar, where myself and a fellow former Facebook colleague helped create their university recruiting program, and we were there for over 2 years. I'm pretty proud that we were able to get Forbes Best Company for New Grads at Lennar - they didn't have a formal new grad program before, and within a year and a half, we were recognized by Forbes as a top company for new grads. Currently, I'm a contract university recruiter for Vienta, where I'm hiring software engineers into their new grad program. I've only been in this role 2 months - they decided to increase their new grad cohort and brought in somebody with university recruiting expertise to help hire the 2026 group.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I've been very lucky to work for companies that really respect parents and give very generous maternity leaves, and believe in work-life balance, which I think is super important. I wish more companies did that. Being a mother of 3 children has definitely helped me professionally - it has helped me be more patient and understanding, and look at things in a completely different lens. All of my managers at Facebook were always amazing, and everyone I've ever worked with, I've had the pleasure of working with numerous recruiters and managers, and everyone has just been so welcoming and accommodating and helping and wanting everybody to be the best version of themselves, professionally, and in their personal life.
