Her Story
About Kaitlyn
I started my career with a degree in health administration and later earned my master's in business administration. My journey began in HR, where I built a strong foundation in employee relations and working with people, which naturally led me into the benefits space. While working for a benefit broker firm, I obtained my license to become an insurance agent in 2025. That's when I really started diving deeper into how I could help people more, which drew me into the finance side of things. What really drives me is the knowledge gap that exists around finances - there's so much people don't know about mortgage protection, final expense, preparing for the future, and setting a legacy for their family's generations. The knowledge you can provide someone can really change their life. I always tell people that your finances need a GPS - just like anything with a GPS, if you don't know where you're going, you rely on it to take you there. Without the GPS, you can be completely lost. It's the same thing with finances. Having that GPS can really take you to that destination of where you want to be. Now, as an independent agent with Cemetery Financial Group under my ABAR Agency, my days are filled with meeting clients one-on-one, going over their financial situations, and coming up with resolutions and solutions. The biggest challenge is that not a lot of people know the information that's out there and how valuable it can be to them. Sometimes when you approach a prospect, they think you're a car salesman. But my biggest thing is just giving them education and knowledge without them having to think about enrolling in something or getting a policy. I want them to walk away with that knowledge, because with that knowledge, they can change their life and their family's life.

Ten minutes with Kaitlyn
01What do you attribute your success to?
My journey and all the different people I've come across, along with the different careers I've tried, have led me to where I am today. But really, my faith in God and Jesus is what has driven me and given me the strength to take this leap into my new journey as an independent agent. It's been my faith that has guided me through all the transitions and challenges, and it continues to be the foundation that supports everything I do professionally and personally.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The most recent advice that has really put the gas pedal on for me is that the most dangerous word is later. Waiting for something, saying you can do it later, saying 'I'll need it later,' or whatever your idea is, you act on it later - that mindset can hold you back. It's very simple advice, but there's a lot of meaning behind it. That one word, 'later,' can prevent you from taking action on opportunities, ideas, and goals that could change your life. This advice has really helped me push forward and not procrastinate on the things that matter.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The biggest advice I would give - and this is advice I give myself as well - is about overcoming your fear. Overcoming your fear of failure and self-doubt, and the fear of having to be average in your world or in your journey. Fear is the biggest thing, and it can be so impactful in your life in many, many different areas. If I had the opportunity to really put this response into words, I would go deep into fear and how it can affect you. Overcoming that fear is the biggest thing, the most helpful thing that you can do in your life. It's about not letting fear hold you back from reaching your full potential.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Faith and family would be the first two values that are most important to me, for sure. Beyond that, integrity is essential to everything I do. I also believe strongly in fitness, both mentally and physically. Your world is 90 percent mental, so it's very, very important to work on that aspect of yourself. These values guide both my professional work and my personal life, keeping me grounded and focused on what truly matters.
