Her Story

About Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn Cunningham is the Director of Community Outreach and Professional Relations at Fusion Academy, where she has built a career centered on education, wellness, relationship building, and community engagement. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from West Chester University of Pennsylvania and maintains her E-RYT-200 yoga certification. Earlier in her career, Kaitlyn taught yoga part time while working as an exercise physiologist and eventually joined the leadership team at Fusion Academy. After stepping away when she felt she had reached a professional ceiling, she returned when the Director of Outreach opportunity became available, drawn to the role’s emphasis on building awareness of Fusion Academy and developing meaningful relationships with education professionals.

In her current position, Kaitlyn oversees outreach efforts supporting Fusion Academy’s Malvern and Ardmore campuses, which consistently rank among the organization’s top performing campuses nationally. She considers herself first and foremost a connector, meeting with professionals throughout the community to understand available resources and identify ways to support families navigating challenges within the education system. Her work brings together community outreach, professional relations, strategic partnership development, wellness, and advocacy. Rather than viewing other schools and practices as competitors, Kaitlyn believes in collaboration and positions Fusion Academy as a supportive partner committed to helping students and families find the educational environment that best meets their needs.

Kaitlyn attributes her success to the strong support system around her and the incredible team she works with. She approaches leadership as a collaborative team player who recognizes and leverages the unique strengths of those around her. Authenticity and fun are central to her personal and professional values, and she encourages others, particularly young women entering the industry, to remain genuine, confident, and true to themselves rather than adopting an overly sales driven persona. As education continues to evolve through constant growth and innovation, Kaitlyn remains focused on building relationships, creating meaningful connections, and bringing people together to make a positive difference for students, families, and the broader community.

Ten minutes with Kaitlyn

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute much of my success to having a strong support system and an incredible team around me. I do not view success as something I have achieved alone; rather, I believe it comes from working collaboratively, recognizing and leveraging each person’s strengths, supporting areas where we may have challenges, and coming together toward shared goals. Being a committed team player and valuing the contributions of others have been essential to my growth and success.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Her best career advice is to be authentic and trust that being yourself will lead you where you are meant to be. Although she works in a sales-oriented role, she has never felt the need to adopt a stereotypical “salesy” personality. Instead, remaining genuine and building relationships as herself has helped her progress throughout her career.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The best advice I would give to young women entering the industry is to be confident in who you are and the value you bring. Own your strengths, trust your abilities, and enter professional spaces with confidence rather than feeling the need to change who you are to fit in. There are so many strong and talented women in this industry, and having the confidence to recognize your own contributions can help you establish yourself, build meaningful relationships, and continue growing throughout your career.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I see constant growth and innovation as both a challenge and an opportunity in the education industry. There is always a new idea, organization, or approach emerging, and while it can be easy to view these developments as competition, I choose to approach them through collaboration. When working with other schools, organizations, and practices, I believe in building relationships with the mindset that we are not competitors; we are partners who can support one another. By sharing resources, knowledge, and expertise, we can better serve students and families while creating opportunities for everyone in the education community to grow and succeed.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me are authenticity and fun. Authenticity guides the way I approach both my professional and personal life, and I believe in being genuine, staying true to myself, and building meaningful relationships. Over time, my understanding of fun has evolved; today, it means enjoying what I do, feeling fulfilled when I go to work, and making time outside of work for the people, experiences, and activities I love. I believe work should be rewarding and meaningful, not something you consistently dread, and I strive to create a life where both professional purpose and personal happiness have a place.
