About Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn Decker serves as Director, Media Strategy & Planning for NBC, Peacock, and Sports at NBCUniversal, where she leads integrated marketing initiatives focused on Peacock Originals and NBC Sports. With approximately nine years of experience in the entertainment and media industry, she specializes in campaign strategy, media planning, and cross-functional collaboration. In her role, Decker manages high-impact campaigns, oversees a team of direct reports, and partners with teams across social media, public relations, creative, and performance media to develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies that engage audiences across multiple platforms.

Before joining NBCUniversal, Decker built her expertise at Mediahub Worldwide, where she held several leadership positions supporting the Netflix account, progressing from Media Planner to Associate Media Director. She also served as Director of Planning at UM Worldwide, leading media strategy for General Mills brands, including Annie’s, Progresso, Old El Paso, Betty Crocker, and Pillsbury. Throughout her career, she has played a key role in successful campaigns, including the return of NBA programming to NBC and Peacock and award-winning experiential marketing initiatives. Decker credits her success to listening, teamwork, and cultivating strong relationships with colleagues, partners, and clients.

Decker earned her bachelor’s degree in Television & Film Studies and Marketing Management from Syracuse University in 2018 through the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. She remains actively connected with the Syracuse alumni community and believes professional relationships are essential to long-term success. Outside of her career, Decker enjoys traveling, spending quality time with her family, and creating memories with her dog. Guided by values of honesty, kindness, and integrity, she continues to bring a collaborative and people-centered approach to her work in the evolving media landscape.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the ability to listen, collaborate, and build meaningful relationships. Throughout my career, I have learned that strong connections and a people-focused approach are essential in any industry. By valuing others’ experiences, remaining open to different perspectives, and working collaboratively as a team player, I have been able to foster trust, create lasting partnerships, and navigate challenges with a shared sense of purpose.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women entering the industry to leverage their alumni networks and the relationships they have already built. Having a shared background or common connection can create valuable opportunities, open doors, and provide a strong foundation for mentorship and professional growth. Building genuine relationships and staying connected with others can be a powerful asset throughout their careers.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges and opportunities in my field right now stem from the rapidly evolving job market and the constant pace of change within the industry. Organizations are navigating frequent reorganizations, mergers, and acquisitions, which can create uncertainty but also open doors for innovation and growth. I believe adaptability, resilience, and the ability to embrace change are essential skills for professionals looking to succeed in this dynamic environment.

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are honesty, kindness, and integrity. I believe that being truthful, treating others with compassion and respect, and maintaining strong ethical principles are essential to building trust and meaningful relationships.
