Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kaitlyn
01What do you attribute your success to?
My parents. My father was the son of immigrants who put himself through college and his MBA while working as a custodian and is now a CEO on multiple boards. My mother was a remote employee at Global Crossing running telephone lines. Watching them gave me an entrepreneurial spirit and technical background.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
If something is harder to understand than it should be, there's a reason for it. Keep asking and keep digging until you get the answer. It's okay to take up space with questions, especially for women in the industry.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Make it fun and play. Automation should be fun and chaotic if you want. Don't be afraid to fail or mess up, admit when you do, and the people around you will help. It's the only way you'll learn.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Data privacy is the biggest thing, and who has the right to what data. With AI, it's scary what can be done to create fake videos or voices. The opportunity and challenge is getting data privacy correct so individuals understand it and can make demands of companies.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Ethics and philosophy. Always think of the end user, whether customer, prospect, or internal, and how to make their life a little easier. Keep it small and focus on who you can help to stay motivated.
