About Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn Goyal is a freelance AI consultant and researcher specializing in data privacy, data compliance, and AI governance, with a particular focus on helping organizations adopt artificial intelligence in ways that are ethical, responsible, and aligned with evolving regulatory standards. She began her career in cybersecurity consulting at Ernst & Young, where she concentrated on data privacy and governance work, before a 2024 layoff prompted her to pivot toward independent AI research and consulting. Since then, she has built a growing freelance portfolio while continuing to deepen her expertise in responsible AI implementation and governance frameworks.
Alongside her consulting work, Goyal furthered her academic credentials by completing a master's degree in management at Hult International Business School, building on an educational foundation that includes earlier graduate study in public policy at George Mason University's Schar School of Policy and Government and an undergraduate degree from Randolph-Macon College. She has also earned an AI leadership credential through Google, reflecting her ongoing commitment to staying current in a rapidly evolving field. Her professional approach blends regulatory and policy insight with a practical understanding of how organizations can integrate AI responsibly.
Beyond her professional work, Goyal is an active member of Women Applying AI and has contributed to civic and advocacy efforts, including her involvement with the Arlington Young Democrats and her role as a founding member of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia's Arlington action council. She also brings a creative and community-oriented side to her life outside of consulting, working as a trivia host and drawing on a background that includes teaching and coaching chess. Driven by a desire to challenge limiting expectations placed on her earlier in life, Goyal approaches her career with resilience and encourages other women entering the industry to pursue unconventional paths with confidence.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my drive, which comes from being raised in a conservative household where I was often told my personality, my appearance, and my choices needed to fit into a narrow mold in order to succeed. That environment instilled in me a deep desire to prove that I could thrive on my own terms, and that determination continues to fuel my ambition today.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women not to be afraid to pursue paths that seem unconventional. When I was laid off, I didn't have a clear plan, so I took the initiative to research and build new skills on my own. That willingness to explore the unfamiliar ended up shaping the direction of my career, and I encourage others to embrace that same mindset.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I face is the persistent rhetoric that AI will erase human capability, take over decision-making, or harm the planet. Countering that narrative and helping people understand AI as a tool that supports and enhances human work, rather than replaces it, is an ongoing challenge I take seriously in my field.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Ethical and responsible use of AI, along with a genuine commitment to improving people's lives through technology, are central to how I approach my work. Ambition and resilience are equally important to me personally, as they've shaped how I navigate setbacks and pursue growth in both my career and my life.
