About Kaitlyn
I started my accounting career during undergrad through a work study position with Amy Trahan, who became my first supervisor and mentor. I thought it would be an easy job, but she actually gave us real accounting work - I had never done accounting before and thought I was going to get fired the first week. Over the past 7 years, I've worked my way through different organizations, primarily nonprofits and companies that work for nonprofits, because I'm very passionate about community and helping people. I worked in accounting at Pennington Foundation a couple of years back, and now I've transitioned into donor research and prospect management at the same organization. In my current role, I find donors that have the affinity and ability to give donations and gifts, work with development teams on database management and cleanups, and find prospective donors that would match the interests of the researchers. I serve as a liaison between the researchers and donors, and my accounting background helps me support the foundation in managing funds. My goal is to really support the foundation and move it forward, especially during this time of significant changes in Louisiana's higher education landscape, including funding shifts and leadership transitions. I'm also building my own business focused on training development accountants.
