Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kaitlyn
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to perseverance, self-belief, and the determination to continually exceed my own expectations. During college, I developed a mindset that challenged me to push beyond limitations and prove to myself that I could accomplish anything I set my mind to. Throughout my journey, I have faced personal challenges that could have become obstacles, but I chose to persevere, remain focused, and keep moving forward. I was also deeply inspired by my mother, a woman in technology who worked her way into a CIO role and served on corporate boards. Her example taught me the importance of resilience, leadership, and creating opportunities through hard work and determination.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is that life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you choose to react and respond. I have carried this perspective throughout my career by focusing on what I can control, maintaining a positive and solution-oriented mindset, and viewing challenges as opportunities for growth. I believe that the energy and perspective we bring to our work can influence the outcomes we create, which has reinforced my commitment to approaching every situation with resilience, optimism, and intention.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is to believe in yourself and recognize that confidence is a key part of building a successful career. Do not be afraid to raise your hand, ask questions, speak up, and pursue opportunities, even when you may not feel completely ready. Embrace both the wins and the setbacks, learn from every experience, and continue moving forward with perseverance. Most importantly, trust your instincts and listen to your gut. Your voice, perspective, and experiences have value, so have the courage to advocate for yourself and pursue the opportunities you deserve.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges and opportunities in my field right now are driven by economic pressures, evolving technology, and the rapid adoption of AI. With organizations facing budget constraints and cuts, it is increasingly important to make thoughtful decisions about products and technology stacks that provide strong protection and value without exceeding available resources. At the same time, AI is transforming the workforce and changing how many roles are performed. I see this as both a challenge and an opportunity: professionals who learn how to work effectively with AI, understand its capabilities, and use it strategically will be better positioned to adapt, remain competitive, and create greater value.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my professional and personal life are respect, kindness, and perspective. I believe everyone deserves to be treated with compassion and understanding, because we never truly know what challenges someone else may be facing. Maintaining that perspective helps me approach others with empathy, patience, and respect. In the workplace, I believe these values foster a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration, reminding us that while we may have different experiences and perspectives, we are ultimately working together toward a common goal.
