Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kajol

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a balanced combination of a strong support system and strategic hard work. To advance, you absolutely need a reliable network of people who can support your vision and offer sound mentorship. Beyond that, there is no substitute for putting in the effort, but I strongly advocate for smart work over raw hours. With tools like AI readily available to handle repetitive tasks, such as generating the initial framework for presentations, it no longer makes sense to sit and do everything manually from scratch. Embracing technological efficiencies allows you to focus your energy on high-value strategic execution.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is a beautifully simple mantra that carried me through a challenging two-month period of unemployment when I first moved to the United States: 'Just keep doing it, and you will eventually get it.' When you are fighting to establish yourself, you cannot obsess over the immediate benefits or rewards of your labor. You just have to put your head down, consistently do the work, and remain disciplined. If you stay committed to the process, you will inevitably land exactly where you are supposed to be.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My strongest recommendation is to prioritize networking and actively discover what is out there in the broader professional landscape. You should eagerly seize every opportunity to talk to and learn from people across all sectors, whether they are in your specific industry or an entirely different field. Cultivating a diverse professional network has been a vital asset for me. It gave me the foundational support to successfully navigate major career transitions and relocate across different countries while maintaining a consistent platform for professional growth.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The core of my day-to-day role is centered entirely on problem-solving and answering complex, high-stakes questions. On a technical level, the most persistent challenge I face is data quality - our data is simply not clean enough. However, looking at the bigger picture, this technical hurdle directly impacts a major societal gap: ensuring that vital medicines actually reach the patients who need them. The fragmentation between pharmaceutical data systems, supply chain logistics, and healthcare distribution often delays life-saving therapies. The ultimate opportunity lies in solving this data cleanliness issue so we can bridge that distribution gap, optimize accessibility, and streamline the pipeline to ensure patients receive their treatments without friction.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My foundational values are proactivity and strict professional honesty. Having worked across multiple organizations, I have frequently noticed that people tend to panic or become defensive when they make a mistake. In my view, it is completely acceptable to be wrong - you just have to be transparent and honest about it. Staying truthful to yourself and to your team, in both your personal and professional life, is what builds lasting trust and integrity.
