Her Story
About Kala
Kala Cole Suttle is a consultant with Prestige School Solutions, a third-party provider specializing in school finance services for charter schools. Since joining the organization in April 2023, she has managed payroll, budgets, state and federal funding allocations, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance for multiple charter schools. By streamlining financial operations and maintaining accurate reporting for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, she helps schools operate efficiently so educators can focus on student success. Before transitioning into education finance, Kala served as an Exceptional Children (EC) mathematics teacher for sixth through eighth grades within the Rutherford County School System. She also worked with children experiencing behavioral and developmental challenges across Rutherford and Cleveland Counties. In addition to her consulting career, she continues to tutor mathematics for students in kindergarten through ninth grade, reflecting her ongoing passion for education and student achievement. Outside of her professional responsibilities, Kala is actively involved in community service through animal rescue organizations, church outreach, educational tutoring, and neighborhood volunteerism. Guided by her faith, integrity, perseverance, and commitment to lifelong learning, she strives to make a meaningful difference in both her profession and her community.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of continuous learning, consistency, and perseverance. I set meaningful goals and remain committed to achieving them, viewing every challenge as an opportunity to grow and improve. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to learn from mentors and supportive colleagues whose guidance and constructive feedback have strengthened both my personal and professional development.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to make decisions that benefit my future self, not just my current circumstances. I believe in putting forth my best effort today so I can build the future I want. Keeping a long-term perspective has helped guide my career choices and personal growth.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice is that your knowledge earns you a seat at the table, your character earns the trust of others, and your confidence ensures your voice is heard. Continue learning, believe in your abilities, and never underestimate the importance of integrity, professionalism, and self-confidence.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the greatest opportunities in school finance is helping schools operate more efficiently so educators can dedicate more time and resources to supporting students. At the same time, building relationships and expanding networks to connect with additional schools that can benefit from specialized financial services remains both an ongoing challenge and an exciting opportunity for growth.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity is the value that guides every aspect of my life. I believe in doing the right thing even when no one is watching, remaining honest and accountable, and approaching every responsibility with professionalism, faith, and a commitment to serving others.
